The Pandemic of 2020 has brought out good and bad. Wine & Food Week has had their share of challenges working with COVID-19, developing extensive and applauded safety protocols and rescheduled events from what was traditionally a week-long line-up in June. Originally, the Wine Walk at Market Street was set for Thursday, June 4th but delayed due to COVID-19 safety measures and restrictions. The event has been set for Thursday, November 12th. Unfortunately, a fraudulent operator created a lookalike page, publishing photos and logos from the actual Wine Walk page as a shared production by Wine & Food Week Television, an entity that doesn’t even exist in conjunction with Bernhardt Winery. After several reports to Facebook of the fraud, the host of the event page changed their profile to a food delivery service. The Producers of Wine & Food Week and Wine Walk at Market Street are working diligently to get the word out so that persons who want to attend the Wine Walk know that the actual date is November 12 and not the fraudulent October 1st event created by a scam artist. “We’re committed to delivering quality events in a safe and enjoyable environment at a time when events are allowed, albeit modified for current restrictions,” says Founder & Co-Producer Constance McDerby. “And we are ready to deliver on that commitment for the Wine Walk on November 12th. We want the public to be aware of the scam in hopes of avoiding the loss of ticket costs and any potential fees paid to a fraudulent company.” For the fake event, the scammers have used quotes from the Founder as well as content from previous press releases to make their announcements more believable. The authentic Wine Walk at Market Street will take place on Thursday, November 12th. The Nach-Yo Ordinary Tequila Tasting will take place on Thursday, October 29. Other events will be announced as available. The only place to secure tickets are at wineandfoodweek.com. For the past sixteen years, Market Street in The Woodlands has rolled out the red carpet for the Wine Walk at Market Street, produced by Wine & Food Week. Guests attending the Wine Walk in 2020 will make a reservation, just like making reservations at a restaurant—with the group size not to exceed 10 people. Each group will rotate through the event, moving with their designated group. This rotation system allows for proper social distancing. Displays will be spaced to allow 6’ distance for each of the rotating groups. We will use vacant retail spaces at Market Street and there will be no outside displays. Everyone attending Wine Walk will receive a keepsake glass to enjoy wine samples with industry experts sharing their newest and most popular selections. We take safety very seriously. We also believe that social-distancing and socializing can safely operate in the same space and that anyone who is comfortable dining out and supporting our community restaurants will feel and be safe at the Wine Walk.
